  Just found my favorite Filipino restaurant for when I can't get food from Mom! With Filipino food, I'm a big critic & I always always always compare it to mom's (or my aunty's cooking). Upon comparing the food I devoured from Shay's Filipino Cafe, I was pleased to announce that I found my favorite Filipino spot!
  
  I ordered the lechon kawali & adobo fried rice omelet. Yummy to the last bite, which was the next day cause these portions are huge! The lechon was cooked to perfection. Everything seasoned well too. After my belly was full, I was already making plans to come back.
  
  Service was swift & everyone was so nice there! Go check them out. You won't be disappointed.

  It's all about the bicol Express! Tender pork all chopped to the right bite size, super creamy gravy like sauce, and it has a good spice to it . Just mix with rice and grind.
  My wife always gets the #lechon kawali. Crispy fatty pieces like it should be and comes with vinegar sauce. Generous portions too. Usually she doesnt finish and theres leftovers. Surprisingly even after sitting overnight in the fridge and a quick zap in the microwave it was still crispy.
  My kids love the adobo fried rice omelet. Also pretty huge. I order one and my 2 kids share it and will still have leftovers.
  
  I usually call in my order so I cant rate a dine in experience but they usually look pretty busy in the evenings.
  Plenty of parking. Fast service

  So ono for Filipino food Shays was recommended to us. Walked in got seat immediately even tho it was crowded. Waitress was very quick and attentive as we decided on our choices.  Once the food finally came we were so eager  to dive in.
  
  Well.... here goes. Their pork adobo was so salty and seemed to just be marinated in shoyu only, as my friend said the worse pork adobo ever. Dinaguan was over cooked it was curdled and nothing like we are use to. Another menu item was the Pinakbet it was unrecognizable as that. The vegetables were over cooked and the dish looked more like puréenof mush. The lecheon kawali came out looking so appealing with the onions and tomatoes sliced so thin and nicely displayed.   When I took a closer look I saw that it was overly dried out.  I age. It a try hoping it would taste as good as it looked. So disappointed it was dried and hard from being fried too long we couldn't chew it.
  
  We tried for the first time the Kare Kare stew. Oh my gosh that was an experience.  We were so disappointed we both looked at each other in shock as it tasted like a warmed up peanut butter smoothie with ox tail in it. One good thing after I wiped the peanut butter sauce off the ox tail it was cook perfectly. It was Tender enough that I picked on a piece.
  
  Needles to say we only ate what we tasted and then asked for our bill.  Waitress asked if we wanted a box for the food. I appreciate that the waitress asked if there was anything wrong because she noticed we didn't eat much.  I just didn't know where to begin and really didn't have the energy to explain how every dish was not to our liking.
  We didn't need a box we left it right there and since neither one of us wanted to eat it, then we didn't want to take it home.
  
  Of all days for the cook to have a bad day it was when we choose to eat there. The bill was over $60 waste of money and time.
  After we left we made a stop else where to eat dinner.

  Grow up eating chicken/pork adobo or just plain love the cuisine of the PI fused with all American goodness? Go to shays... BOOM! Have a hankering for Kare kare? BOOM! For a quaint little section of an outlet mall, it's pretty legit and has really friendly staff. The food was great and the portions are family style, which is fitting for a Filipino restaurant. And it's not over priced. I got the chicken adobo omelette, my friend got the Ube pancakes, kare kare, AND some pancit. Definitely enough for 3-5 people. All were delicious and brought a little bit of that "home" feeling.
  Why 3 stars instead of 4, I had the misfortune of having a leaky cup and it took a while for the water all over my table to get cleaned up. The workers got to it and were apologetic, but I did sit at a table with a growing pool of water for like 15 min. Next time I'm sure it'll be better since they were so friendly.

  Ate here for the first time with my family. I ordered the 3 choice plate (pork adobo, lechon kawali, and pinakbet- the pork adobo was probably the best tasting out of the 3 choices, but nothing amazing or anything like that), the ube pancakes (was ok), fried boneless bangus (my wife said it's really good and tasty), longganisa fried rice omelette (my son said his dish was awesome), and my youngest son had a grilled cheese sandwich with a side of bacon (typical style breakfast). We came here because my wife loves ube, but for some reason surprisingly, it looked better than it tasted. Overall, the food quality was ok and the portion to price ratio was good. I'd probably give it another try if we're in this area again.
  
  There are tables and chairs to dine on. The staff are really friendly and pretty fast. The parking lot is huge and is shared with other establishments.
